Starling Class 2025/2026

Children in year 5 are members of Starling Class. They are taught by Miss Harvey and supported in their learning by Mrs Marchesi.

Our topic for Spring 1 is 'The Big Apple'.

In our English lessons, we will be reading 'The Good Thieves' by Katherine Rundell and we will be writing persuasive speeches and news reports.  

In maths we will be learning about multiplication, division and fractions.

Our geography topic will be based on New York City. We will be locating it on a map and comparing NYC and Norwich.

In science we will be studying 'properties and changes of materials' and we will be studying reversible and irreversible changes as well as separating mixtures.

In our RE lessons, we will be looking at Hinduism and answering the question 'What spiritual pathways to Moksha are written about in Hindu scriptures?'

PE:

This half term, we will be doing PE on Tuesday afternoons. Children will need to wear their PE kits.


Forest Schools:

Forest Schools will occur on Thursday afternoons, please ensure the children are dressed appropriately for the weather and bring sensible shoes/ wellies.
