Badger Class (Yr R) - 2021/2022

Children in Year R are members of Badger Class.

The pupils of Badger Class are taught by Miss Balls and supported by Mrs Lang and Mrs Neave

Mrs Lang will be working in class everyday and Mrs Neave will be working with us every morning.

Our Vision in Reception is to create children that are independent, inquisitive and curious learners who feel happy and safe at school. We are able to achieve this vision by ensuring that pupils are provided with rich learning opportunities and stimulating resources.

Our Core Texts for this Term

Each half term we explore a Topic that is based around two core texts. Below you will find the name of the topic and the two core texts that we will be exploring in class. We will be using Talk 4 Writing to retell and recall the core texts through actions and story maps.

In reception, we follow the Letters and Sounds phonics scheme and use Jolly Phonics songs and actions to help us with reading, writing and spelling. We will be continuing to learn phase 3 sounds and working towards phase 4.

To support pupils learning in school, all pupils will have a reading record and are expected to read 5 times a week at home.

PE Kits on Thursdays

Please make sure your child comes to school in their PE kit every Thursday!

PE kits should include: T-shirt, PE shorts/tracksuit bottoms, trainers or plimsoles (weather dependent).

All Jewellery must be removed and long hair must be tied up to keep all children safe.

Please note that at this time of year PE will be outside so trainers are preferable.

Forest School

Forest school will also be on Thursdays for Badger Class.
