Starling Class 2025/2026

Children in year 5 are members of Starling Class. They are taught by Miss Harvey and supported in their learning by Mrs Marchesi.

Our topic for Summer 1 is 'South America'.

In our English lessons, we will be reading 'Journey to the River Sea' by Eva Ibbotson and we will be writing formal letters and narratives. 

In maths we will be learning about: shape, position and direction, decimals, negative numbers, converting units and volumes.

Our geography topic will be looking at 'South America'. We will learn about Brazil and the culture.

In science we will be studying 'Living things and their habitats'. We will be be looking at life cycles and reproduction in plants.

In our RE lessons, we will be looking at Christiantity and answering the question 'What is the great significance of the 'Eucharist' to Christians?'

PE:

This half term, we will be doing PE on Tuesday afternoons. Children will need to come to school wearing their PE kits.


Forest Schools:

Forest Schools will occur on Thursday afternoons. Please ensure the children are dressed appropriately for the weather and bring sensible shoes/ wellies.
