Badger Class (Yr R) - 2025/2026

Children in Year R are members of Badger Class.

The pupils of Badger Class are taught by Mrs Cunningham and supported by Mrs Baker, Miss Barnes and Miss Easton.

Our Vision in Reception is to create children that are independent, inquisitive and curious learners who feel happy and safe at school. We are able to achieve this vision by ensuring that pupils are provided with rich learning opportunities and stimulating resources.

Our Core Texts for this Term

Each half term, we explore a topic that is based around two core texts. Below, you will find the name of the topic and the two core texts that we will be exploring in class. We will be using Talk 4 Writing to retell and recall the core texts through actions and story maps.

Phonics

In Reception, we follow the Little Wandle scheme to help us with reading, writing and spelling. We will start with Phase 2 and move onto Phase 3 and 4 later in the school year.

To support pupils learning in school, all pupils will have a reading record and they are expected to read 5 times a week at home.

PE is on Tuesdays

Please make sure your child comes to school in their PE kit every Tuesday.

PE kits should include: white T-shirt, black or navy PE shorts/tracksuit bottoms, trainers or plimsoles (weather dependent).

All jewellery must be removed and long hair must be tied up to keep all children safe.

Forest School

Forest school will be on Wednesday for Badger Class. Please wear clothes that you do not mind getting dirty. Wellies will be stored at school.
